Welcome DFW Veterans! This site is the beginning of a much larger collaborative effort to bring veteran businesses in the DFW area together through a strategic and action-oriented process.
An average of 22 veterans commit suicide every day. Oftentimes, they are in situations where they need help - whether it's financial help, legal help, mental help, job-seeking help - and sometimes they simply have a feeling of fading away due to a lack of structure, purpose, and mission that they had while serving their country.
DFW is filled with veterans. Veterans who not only need the help listed above, but veterans who can provide it, and do a much better job understanding the nature of the problem than any civilian could. OUR MISSION is to start driving these numbers down and empowering veterans by providing the link between the problem and the solution, and creating a user-friendly interface to make it as easy, efficient, and expeditious as possible. No more 45 minute waits on the phone for an appointment 2 months from now, no more blanket prescriptions to buckets of problematic drugs, and no more good men and women struggling alone with the demons from their past experiences.
OPERATIONS. First order of business is to establish a database of all veteran owned/operated/managed businesses in the Dallas Fort Worth area. THIS IS WHERE YOUR HELP IS NEEDED: Due to the overwhelming volume of businesses in the area, we need user-driven input to gather information on these businesses. All we need for now is you to click on the "Contact Us" link, fill out the Business Info Submission form, and someone from the DFW Vets thinktank will contact the businesses to ensure they meet our standards of quality, service, veteran discounts, availability, etc. That database will then be geo-integrated into a searchable mapping tool where businesses can be searched for by location and function. For example, if you're in Frisco looking for a veteran plumber in the surrounding 10 miles, you'll be able to input your address and get their information, along with what branch they served in, military discounts available, and other relevant information.
DFW Vets is not about profit, nor will it ever be. We are about change, and taking action when others would remain passively indifferent. Please fill out the business info submission form with any businesses you know of (including your own). Feel free to "subscribe" to the e-mails as well, and I will keep you all updated on the progress.
